Arizona Science Center

During Christmas intersession we decided to go to the Arizona Science Center. I love that place! We have so much fun and usually spend the whole day there. Good thing my kids like science!

The main exhibit was Titanic. We watched the IMAX movie about the expedition first and then went into the exhibit. It was so neat. They did such a great job. It was amazing to see all the things they found and brought up from the wreakage and the condition that it was all in. They also had comments from passengers all throughout. It was like entering a different world. When you first walk into the exhibit they give you a boarding pass with an actual passenger's information. At the end of the exhibit there is a whole wall that lists the classes and crew and the names of those saved and those lost. So you got to look up the name you were given and see if you survived or not. Out of our party of six, four of us survived and we were all in third class. It was eerie.

I liked all of the other exhibits too. In the networking area they have a radio station and there was a little old man working it. Thomas got the biggest kick out of sitting and talking with him. He showed Thomas how to use a short wave radio and they talked to a guy in Australia and then he taught Thomas morse code and let him talk to a guy in London using morse code. The cutest thing was when we decided to move onto another floor Thomas told him that he had to go and then asked the man if it would be alright if he came to visit with him again.

The other notable thing was in the movement and sound room there was a tray of iron dust and it danced to music! It was so cool. I wish I could have that in my house....even if it is dust. It was a really fun and educational day!
