October was a fun month. We filled it with a bunch of fun days. First, during break we took a trip to the Phoenix Police Museum.
We also had a huge hail storm. So we bundled up to watch it.
We had a great time with our cousins. We went and cheered for Maya at her softball game.
We helped Maurielle celebrate her birthday.
We also played bounty hunter with Grandma...
We made ghosts to get our house ready for Halloween
We invited our friends over for a sleep over and made a huge fort. This thing was cool. It even had air conditioning....
The toughest part of the month for me was Thomas' EEG. Thomas has been struggling to stay focused in school. He generally gets good grades but they were very inconsistent. His teachers would have to constantly get his attention and help direct his attention back to the classroom. Thomas told us it felt like his eyesight would go black and all of a sudden the class had moved on to a new subject and he was still on whatever they were discussing before. The doctor decided to have an EEG done to make sure he wasn't having petit mal seizures. So, even though Thomas was very nervous he passed his test with flying colors.
The good news is his brain is perfect. No seizures what so ever. This left us with a big decision. The doctors let us know that he has a very mild form of ADD. We had to decide whether to let him continue to struggle or put him on medication. We prayed about it for a couple of weeks and we had many discussions with Thomas. We decided to put him on medication. It was the right decision. He only has to take it on school days. It has helped him stay focused and now his grades are consistent A's & B's. Even better, the doctor told us that eventually his brain will mature and he will be able to get off the medication.
We are proud of Thomas for being so brave and accepting help. We had a bunch of talks of how none of us are perfect and that it is okay to ask for help when we need it. It has been interesting to see how Thomas has handled it. I love this kid with all my heart.
Next was Halloween! We had a vampire & a ghost at our house. The boys got to go to the Schmerfeld's Halloween party, the Ward's Trunk-or-Treat & Trick or Treating. Whew! Halloween is becoming a huge thing!
We also had another wrestling tournament at the end of October. Notice the boys have wrestling shoes now and more appropriate clothing. It was still tough but they both managed to place 3rd at this tournament.
Well, that is a fast forward look at our October! It was jam packed with tons of fun and some really good memories.

what a sweet story and as you know, I really do know exactly what you are going through. We always pray to know which is the right thing. I'm glad you got your inspiration to know what you needed to do.

Love the catch up posts. I have several of those that I need to do. Glad to know that I am not the only one!
My boys had such a blast with yours. They still tell everyone about how awesome that fort was! I love that our boys have such a fun time together. We will definitely have to get them together this summer. :)
I'm so glad you still blog. There are not many of us left! I know how hard it is to make those decisions about meds for our kids. Glad it's helping yours. It was a bad thing for my daughter, but we have her in a great school now and it helps a lot:)
